Winters, Owls close at nationals NEW HAVEN — Sheehan grad Avery Winters' rookie season of indoor track at Southern Connecticut State University culminated with a 12th-place finish with the 4x400 relay team at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach. Winters and teammates Hannah Caiola, Izzy Newbury and Ella Maclean posted a time of time of 3:49.35, which was the fastest in their heat. The quartet won this year's Northeast-10 Conference championship. The appearance by Winters and the 4x400 relay team at nationals was the first for Southern's women's indoor track program since Meriden's Briana Burt qualified in 2019.
